Skin Care in a Hospice?

Beauty specialist Jolande Bosch shares her experience with skincare in a hospice, highlighted in a new blog post in collaboration with Iconic Elements. This collaboration brings insight into a frequently overlooked aspect of skincare.

In my 20 years of existence as a beautician, I have been able to receive many customers. The term beautician quickly fell away for me because my affinity lies with skin care and skin improvement. And then, skin improvement is a very broad concept.

The skin is our largest organ and various factors can influence the condition of the skin.

Hormones, climate, skin care, illness, and medication use can throw skin off balance. This applies not only to your face, but also the skin of your arms, legs, and torso can cause problems.

A client of mine asked if I could still visit her, as she was in the hospice and wanted to get rid of some facial hair. That too is skin care! This beautiful and special experience made me decide to sign up for Hospice Borne. As soon as the name Hospice in Borne dropped, I sent an email asking if I could contribute to the Hospice and that I would like to do so.

Hospice

As soon as Hospice Borne was established and I was allowed to join as a volunteer for Skincare, I contacted my suppliers Dermalogica, Barbara Bort and Iconic Elements. I received fantastic products. The products from Iconic Elements were designed and composed by Dermatologist Dr. Francis Wu.

Skincare from your Dermatologist is their motto. The products are mild and meticulously composed, and what you mainly need in a Hospice are products that do not cause allergy or are too strong in terms of ingredients.

Guests who stay in a Hospice are sick, but that doesn’t mean that outward care doesn’t matter. This can actually be very important as it gives back a piece of yourself, who you were and who you are. Whether it’s about hand, foot, face or nail care, or about make up or trimming a hairstyle, every form proves to be desired and is offered in Hospice Borne. A guest asked me “is this still worth it?”

Absolutely it is worth it and we started to laugh. That too is an addition during a treatment. Being able to laugh together for a while. It is a piece of personal care and it does not need to be extensive or long. Sometimes moisturizing the hands with the Natural Moisturizer Cream body from Iconic is enough.

In October, I will start the Oncological Skin Care training in order to be able to apply more knowledge and skills in my practice and the Hospice, and I look forward to introducing my colleague volunteers to this form of care, skin care, during the training evenings.

The most important thing is attention. Attention to your fellow man, attention to your fellow volunteer, and using products that have been carefully assembled and produced. These three items combined into one power … BEING THERE.

The system needs a paragraph with HTML tags and Gutenberg markers to translate. The text you provided, “Hospice Borne,” doesn’t contain either and it’s not in a foreign language to translate to English.
